Thirty One Days of Blogging - Day Six

I had started this post almost twelve hours ago, and it wasn't working. This post is about Thanks rather than Gratitude. 2020 can be described with many words, and most are unflattering. I can give thanks for many things, the first being that I was vertical and didn't injure myself at the end of last week. I may be the Optimistic BA, but I am only human. This week will be fabulous; it just has to be. Being thankful not only makes you feel good but the person(s) who receives the kudos. Christmas is my favorite time of year, and now I reveal a passion that may surprise some people. I love Christmas music and Christmas movies. I am not a movie watcher, but the Hallmark channel is a favorite, and I listen to Christmas music as soon as the radio plays it. I don't buy that many gifts; I believe in keeping in touch with the special people in my life. As I say that, I do owe a few people long overdue calls.

2020 did not go as all of us had planned, but we have all survived, and I have noticed the phrase that we have learned to appreciate what we have, not what we wanted. I had plans to travel to speak, go on a retirement trip, and spend time with retired friends during the day. I did get to have a retirement reception when I left Mutual and a retirement party one month later. A few days after leaving work, we went on a trip to Phoenix to see family and friends, but that was it for the year. Being virtual has meant I got to attend many events and conferences I wouldn't have been able to go to in person. I got to speak at more events than I could have in person. BA's can pivot in a tiny space, but I wish that all the places I visited could have accumulated frequent flyer miles!

I am thankful for being able to retire early and pursue my passions. My husband Terry, my friends, my families, my coaches, Team Biaka Works, the YCNS family, my IIBA colleagues, and my inner circle. Being a solopreneur has made me step out of my comfort zone and be uncomfortable. You are not learning unless you uncomfortable and never stop learning. If you stop learning, you will stop living far too soon. Tomorrow's blog will be about traveling. Remember always to keep your glass at least half full! Here's to a great week ahead!
