Thirty One Days of Blogging - Day 16
Picking up where I left off yesterday, in late 2018, there was a realignment of our area. No one lost their job, but all of my current team went to a new project. I was reassigned to another team in the current area. This team supported a product I didn’t have experience in, but I took the Customer Tool with me, so I had those things to do. I helped with some documentation that needed to be created and added to an online tool.
In April 2019, I got tagged to work on a large product project because of my past product experience. The project had a direct line of sight to the CEO as it was his #2 priority. This project had its nuances and, as it turned out, was the last big project I worked on. I had been toying with retiring most of that year. I decided in August. I called two training companies and decided one was not the right fit. I asked Sinikka Waugh of Your Clear Next Step, LLC if I retired, would there be something I could do for her. She had plans to expand her business, and we agreed we would talk at the 2019 Heartland PDD as we were both speaking. I was co-presenting with my director, Kathy Burnham, so we had to go into stealth mode. We talked and agreed to have me teach Business Analysis.
I was attending a conference with Kathy and other Mutual people on November 1. In mid-October, I made the announcement and went into full knowledge transfer mode. Someone had to learn how to handle the tool. Before I left, I had trained four people on what to do. I also got to help pick my replacement and train him. I did even more documentation and cleaned out electronic files. The time went by quickly, and I left on January 31, 2020, on terminal vacation. I am happy I got to have a retirement reception as this was pre- COVID. Tomorrow I will reveal another Judymoji and also explain how I became Chapter President. Until then, keep your glass at least half full.
