My Typical Day

Day 7 of my 12 days of Christmas is here now. As a solopreneur, I am often asked what a typical day is like? My easy answer is that every day is different. My friends have proclaimed that I have “failed” at retirement. I retired to pursue my passions, but I am busier than anticipated. I am enjoying my life more than ever. Do what you love and never work a day in your life. I now know that those words are accurate and true.

I am a volunteer with IIBA as the Global Chapter Council Chair, where I chair the advocacy team for the chapters. My nickname is the Head Volunteer. The people I have met are the best, but there is another fringe benefit as I need to know what time it is almost everywhere in the world. My scheduling talents on the calendar have become stellar! I teach BA courses for Your Clear Next Step, a training company in Iowa. Through the owner Sinikka Waugh, I have met a group of fabulous coaches. They let me slip in despite being a Nebraska girl.

I have my own business, known as The Optimistic BA. I am a public speaker and finishing up the material I will offer through my own business. My fantastic website team from Biaka Works is working hard to finish that piece of my website. Usually, my days begin early and end late due to IIBA meetings. I meet with my website team at least once a week. This time of year, I spend time submitting presentations to speak at conferences next year. I can only hope that I get to talk in person in 2022.

I usually would get up at 4:00 am to be at the gym by 5:00 am when it opens. I have been sidelined due to cellulitis but will soon be back. I don’t usually have to work from morning to night, so I take naps in the afternoons. That is the best fringe benefit of doing what I do. I spend a lot of time on Social Media, mainly for business purposes on LinkedIn. I have met a great group of people on LinkedIn who I consider friends. I have also met vital business connections and watched many young stellar BA of the future prepare to replace our generation. I feel the BA arena is in excellent hands. Until next time, please keep your glass at least half-full.
