International Women’s Day
Happy International Women’s Day to all the wonderful women in my life. I am not going to be brave enough to shout out and name any names. The special ones in my life know who they are and that they are loved, respected, and admired. The slogan for this year is “Courage to Challenge.” That screams the name of one of my close friends.
Being a Business Analyst and knowing more of them, we challenge many things every day. If we didn’t have those characteristics, we would not be successful. A good BA operates much like a police detective and is usually an expert at asking questions. When I started my career in Corporate America, there was a lack of women executives, without a doubt. There were some women that you knew were destined to succeed.
By the early 1990s, numerous women had risen to the top of the ranks in the areas I worked in. Many of them were mentors to me throughout my career, and some of them are close friends to this day. Some are very close to the C-Level, and many are Executive Vice Presidents. I had many managers in my career, 45 different ones in slightly more than 35 years.
The rumor that I was rough on managers is just not true. There were many reorganizations and changes throughout my career. The women I admire are not all former managers but are also family and friends. In the BA world, being a Badass is a huge compliment. So I am giving my shout-out to all the women in my life who are truly badass. Coming from me, that is right up there with “I Love You.” Until next time, please keep your glass half full.
