Thirty One Days of Blogging - Day Three

I have made it to Day Three- Woo Hoo! I also have already been to the gym. I continue by telling my story, and it will all tie together by the end of the month. The attached picture is a stuffed smaller version of BIF. BIF stands for Bowling is Fun and BIF was the mascot for the Young American Bowling Alliance several years ago. Ok, in the 1980s. As I stated yesterday, I was active in the administrative part of youth bowling. A few people would wear the suit, and the kids would go crazy.

The suit consisted of skin-tight green gloves, skin-tight green tights, and the shirt that you see in the picture was big and oversized. The oversized BIF head consisted of a green head, the antennas on top which were bolted into a baseball batter’s hat. The final touch was size 13 bowling shoes. Now since I was short, my head fit in there a little different than other people. The mouth on the head was the air hole for the person wearing the suit. I did this so much I had a way of bending my head, so the bolts didn’t just push into my head.

BIF had two rules - BIF didn’t talk and never took off the head in public! The antennas squeaked, which was how BIF communicated. Judy Alter, unable to speak, hard to imagine. I could wear a size 13 shows without taking off my tennis shoes. People tried to get me to talk, and all I would do is squeak, shake my head no, and shrug with the palms of my hands. I had a blast in the suit, posed for pictures at many tournaments, appeared at the Nebraska State Fair, and was one of the lead marchers at the 1989 Nebraska State Games. The best thing that I did was to have bowling matches with McGruff the Crime Dog. I could put my hands in a bowling ball, but McGruff had these huge paws. BIF was undefeated! There were a few matches with Santa Claus, but he could use all his own bowling equipment.

Since I was always in the suit, I don’t have any pictures of me in the suit. I need to contact the guy that wore McGruff because I think he has some. What this has to do with Business Analysis? There were many logistics that it took to get BIF in and out without anyone seeing who it was in the suit. It was project management and business analysis, but we didn’t know that at the time. This will also explain that I may wear an Optimistic BA costume sometime. I had so much fun doing BIF, and it is indeed one of my top ten memories. I can also confirm that it was scorching in that suit, and someone had to help dress and undress me. I hope I have made people smile and laugh with today’s post. I will catch all of you tomorrow. What will Friday bring? Tune in, and until next time, your glass should be at least half full!
