Thirty-One Days of Blogging - Day 28
Today’s blog is continuing with my Top Ten for 2020. I will reveal and discuss Numbers Eight and Seven. Number Eight is Being on Three Podcasts. The first was the Even Better Podcast hosted by Sinikka Waugh, Founder of Your Clear Next Step LLC. I talked about the Five Best Things About Volunteering in a Professional Organization. If you know me, you guessed that I talked about my IIBA experience. I appeared next on the Traceability Podcast by Tracie Edwards. I talked about my BA Career, my Retirement, New Business, and IIBA.
Tracie and I had never met until the night I appeared to do the podcast. As you can imagine, two BA’s with similar but different paths can talk forever. Tracie has become a friend and one of my best supporters. For that, I will be ever grateful and try to support her in return. The third broadcast I was on is a live event called Analysts After Work hosted by Vince Mirabelli. It is not your typical broadcast as the first question is always what are you drinking? That starts the fun. I appeared with Jenn (JoFo) Forrest, who is an IIBA friend from Washington DC.
Number Seven is Teaching Business Analysis Through Your Clear Next Step LLC. One of the first people I reached out to when I was going to retire was Founder Sinikka Waugh. Since she had spoken and was a sponsor at the Heartland Chapter Conference several times, we have been friends for over a decade. I didn’t know it at the time, but she was thinking of expanding her business, and my retirement fit right into her plan. I have taught courses in both the spring and the fall. My course is in the soft skills arena and is The Human Aspect of the BA Toolkit. I will be tweaking the course and will be offering two versions starting in the February/March timeframe. Her business has had some changes in recent months, and they will be launching a new website very soon.
Our arrangement has been beneficial for both of us. Not only are we good friends, but she always has great advice and is a mentor. Through her, I have met a great group of coaches from all specialties, and I have learned quite a bit from all of them. Her employees' team is a fantastic group that helps with the marketing, communications, making sure slides are correct and loaded to their system, plus the person who makes sure I get paid. Sinikka is someone I have the highest amount of respect for, and I don’t know more ethical than her. Tomorrow I will reveal Numbers Six and Five of my Top Ten. Until then, please keep your glass at least half full.
