2021 Challenges

Day 2 of the 12 days of Christmas is unfolding. 2021 had some professional challenges. I had a hard time deciding what products I would create to sell through my business. I kept changing my mind and consulting people. That is so unlike me because I am one of the few Business Analysts who rarely second-guessed myself. I had wanted to be finished with all of this before now, but my website design team and I agreed we couldn’t meet the deadline previously set. This will be launched in 2022, but I will address these details later.

I had many successes in 2021 as I was accepted at every conference I applied to and spoke at several IIBA Chapters. The PMBA Conferences that I was looking forward to speaking in person didn’t happen. Some were virtual, some were canceled, and others were postponed. The BBC was delayed until June 2022, a bucket list item. I wanted to meet new people, especially at the PMBA conferences, to promote my business. I spent most of the year playing travel agent canceling hotel rooms and airline reservations.

I am thankful for my inner circle, sounding boards when I have ideas. A few are BA’s that are not shy about telling me what I need to hear instead of what I want to hear. Running your own business is much different from Corporate America, but it is good about 80% of the time. Hey, I am still “The Optimistic BA,” and there is no time for being negative. Until next time, please keep your glass at least half-full.
