A Contest and Elevate Others

Welcome back. Today’s blog has a two-fold purpose. First, I want to announce that weekly on Thursdays starting today through February; I will have a contest. The contest will prove How well do you know Judy Alter or the Optimistic BA? Today’s question will be: If Judy Alter was not a BA, what would be her occupation?

Team Biaka recently created some great social media images for me. Being a big fan of quotes, many of my requests are about quotes. The first new one I am using is something Danelkis Serra said just a few months ago. “As Business Analysts- Elevate Yourself to Elevate Others.” I met her when she came to work at IIBA almost three years ago. We became instant friends even though, on the surface, we do appear to be very different.

As a friend, mentor, and partner in crime, she has elevated me as a BA and a person. I am a better person for knowing her than I was three years ago. We do challenge each other, so it is a two-way street with us. She is young enough that I could be her mother, but she is every bit my equal. Her quote doesn’t just apply to Business Analysts but all aspects of life. Everyone should have that person who elevates them in their career. It makes the journey much more fun!
