Thirty One Days of Blogging - Day 10
Behind every successful person is an important support group. That can take many forms; in my case, I have a great family, friends, IIBA Colleagues, an excellent website design team, and a great inner circle. I am not naming any names because I will over-look someone, and I’ll be shorter than I am now. Except for the BA’s I know everyone is always asking what does a BA do? It is still hard to think up an elevator pitch as to what a BA does.
My short description is this: A BA helps businesses improve products, processes, systems, and software through analysis. The BA is like a detective and asks questions to understand problems and create solutions. They need to steer their stakeholders, and 85% of what a BA does relates to soft skills, so they need to be good with people. The last person I need to call out is undoubtedly the first person in my life- my husband, Terry Alter. I don’t know if I am brave enough, but I should have him blog on what it is like to be Mr. Judy Alter. I am thankful for his support and for everything he does daily. That allows me to be able to pursue my passions and is priceless.
I have explained business analysis to him, but like I don’t understand airport and hotel codes, his eyes still glaze over. What he knows is that if he asks me when I’ll be finished working, and I say 15 minutes, that probably means one hour or more. Tomorrow’s topic will be a surprise for TGIF. In the interim, please make sure that your glass is at least half full!
