My Bucket List
Last week I checked off a cherished item twice off my bucket list! I delivered a keynote speech at two conferences. The conferences were virtual, but they were still keynotes. They were extra special to me as I delivered them for two IIBA Chapters! Now to be transparent, I gave the same keynote both days, but I am confident my delivery was different each day. Each of these chapters is special in different ways to me. Cedar Rapids is in the Central Region, which I reside in as an IIBA member. Palmetto is in the region that I am temporarily the regional director, and I know several members. As the IIBA GCC Chair, I don’t have any favorites of the 120 chapters, but this is personal and is regarding my business.
Based on the questions, the people who have reached out to me, and the messages I received, I feel they both went well. Since mid-September, I am blessed to have attended seven virtual conferences while speaking at three of them. Each was different in their own way and used various tools for hosting a virtual conference. I was able to attend conferences in South Africa and Belgium. They were my first foreign conferences, and two, I would not have had the opportunity to participate in person. During this time period, I also spoke at several IIBA Chapter events. It was a fantastic experience, but when I finished speaking at Palmetto on Friday the 13th, I was exhausted, happy, and relieved. They held a virtual happy hour, which is something I always enjoy! After finishing that up, I did take a three-hour nap.
Basking in the happy moment was only allowed for a short time. I now need to hunker down, creating abstracts for 2021 conferences, and figure out new presentations. I have also been working on designing the services I will be offering for the training and consulting part of my business. I also need to keep blogging on a schedule, or “my people” (Team Biaka) will be chatting with me. The Thanksgiving Judymoji’s will be revealed this week. Right on the heels of that will be the Christmas Judymoji’s. A few surprises will be unveiled before the end of 2020 or early in 2021! Until next time, have a great weekend!
