My Second Chapter
Welcome to my first blog. This is my Act II or Second Chapter not sure which. I retired on January 31, 2020 after spending 35 years and 4 months at Mutual of Omaha. I am an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst.
I have started my own business to leverage my skills to pursue things that are my passion. I have been very involved in IIBA- International Institute of Business Analysis at a local, regional, and global level. Right now I am the GCC Chair which means I lead a team that supports all 120 some chapters.
In my "retirement" I will be speaking at conferences. I will also be presenting webinars on behalf of Your Clear Next Step. I will be working from home when I am not traveling. Being self-employed is a bit outside my comfort zone but I am excited. In my career I was very lucky to work for wonderful supervisors, managers, directors, and vice presidents. My decision to retire at this time was sudden in many ways but I always said I was going to retire early. Many people told me that I could never sit around idle. I didn't admit that until just recently which is obvious by my business plans. Life is too short to not stop and enjoy the ride. I always have enjoyed life but now I can do many things on my terms.
In my new adventure I do plan to watch sunrises and sunsets. I can't remember the last time I did that. I also plan to take at least one afternoon off every week to do something fun. Go to Starbucks to read a book, visit retired friends, and maybe visit a local attraction. I will be spending more time with my friends who are not retired. Life is too short not to be enjoyed. We need to live every day to the fullest.
I am known as having a great sense of humor. Making people laugh gives me great satisfaction. Being positive is one of my other strong traits. It is so much easier to be happy than upset. I am going to sign off for now. I hope you join me for the ride. If you have thoughts about future topics or even have constructive feedback, please let me know. Please share this blog with all your friends and family!
Until the next post,
Judy “The Opitimistic BA”
